“Math, English & STEM” Summer Camp
MATH – Have Fun Learning Math through creative Math crafts, activities, projects and worksheets.
Strengthen conceptual understanding of Key Math Concepts with different Math topics and learning objectives each day. Learn Computation Techniques and Strategies. Develop and strengthen Language Processing and Problem-Solving skills by solving Math word problems.
CRITCAL THINKING AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT – Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills with focus on “Singapore Math Problem Solving Strategies” and worksheets from COGAT workbooks and “Mind Bender” activities every Friday.
ENGLISH – Daily 2-hour English session. Strengthen reading comprehension, expand vocabulary and learn to use English language creatively through rhyming, poetry, story writing etc. Daily reading exercise with different themes and learning objectives each week. Build your own English notebook.
STEM – Explore a different Science OR Engineering topic every Wednesday with experiments, crafts, projects etc. PRIZE DAY FRIDAY – Campers get to select a prize every Friday to celebrate their good work
Physical Activities: Campers in Bellevue have the option to visit the Blueberry Farm for outdoor activities.
Work-Along Program
Stay engaged with Math this Summer and help your child start off on the right foot this Fall!
Students will review the key concepts of different math topics and practice techniques and strategies taught in the year-long Singapore Math program.
Program Participants will receive the following:
- Hard Copy Review Workbook
- Digital Version of Review Workbook with step-by-step solutions
- 10 hours of Online Sessions with Live Instructors
The Workbook Work-Along program is a 2-week program that is conducted twice weekly. There will be 2 sessions held in July and August.
Each class is 2.5 hours long with math puzzles, quizzes and prizes to make the learning more engaging.
The Program is available for Grades 2, 3 & 4 only.
Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions
- What safety protocols will be in place?
Daily temperature checks on every instructor and campers
Immediate hand sanitizing upon entry to the center and regular hand washing to be implemented
Instructors and campers to wear masks at the centers. Parents are required to wear masks at drop off and pick up.
Campers will work in smaller groups throughout the facility
Access to the centers will be restricted to campers and instructors only. Drop off and pick up at the entrance only.
Daily deep cleaning and sanitizing of the centers
- Do the children need to bring anything to the camp?
Campers must bring their own lunch. We can refrigerate and heat up the food.
A light snack will be provided at about 2pm by SMC.
Parents should pack more snacks if their children need more than one snack a day.
Parents who wish to use specific hand sanitizers or sunscreen or who want their children to use their own stationary (pencils, erasers, color pencils etc.) are welcome to bring their own. However, it is the child’s responsibility to make sure her/his belonging are kept together.
- What is the instructor to student ratio?
Campers will work in small groups with others of their grade levels.
The entire space of the center will be devoted to the children so that we can ensure the students are spread out among the center.
SMC reserves the rights to cancel any camp session offered depending on demand as well as to modify the schedule of activities.
